Poitiers is a thousand-year-old university city with direct year-round flights from London Stansted. It is home to some of the finest Romanesque architecture in Europe, the site of two history-shaping battles, and a city that remains almost entirely undiscovered by British tourism despite being 90 minutes from La Rochelle and genuinely excellent.
La Rochelle is a maritime city on the Atlantic coast with seasonal direct flights from London, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh. Its Old Port, medieval towers, arcaded streets and island access make it one of the most appealing destinations on the French Atlantic coast — and one that remains refreshingly free of British crowds even in peak summer.
Both cities are compact, walkable and well-connected to the UK. Both offer excellent food, history and access to coast and countryside. And both are currently undervisited by British travellers, which is precisely what makes them worth visiting. This site exists to make them easier to reach, easier to navigate and easier to enjoy.
